Gary Morgan AM AFSM will join us for a brief round-up of the various findings and recommendations which have been released by State-level inquiries and the Royal Commission into the 2019-20 Bushfires. Gary will share his reflections on the findings from inquiries into this bushfire season, and how they compare to inquiry findings after past seasons.

The webinar will then focus on preparation, particularly in light of the NSW Inquiry finding that our land requires an increase in prescribed burning. Dr Lachie McCaw will the present from his significant knowledge and experience into how to introduce prescribed burning into a landscape and also as a private forest grower, provide guidance to other private growers on Preparing your forest for fire season.

Gary Morgan AM AFSM has extensive experience in bushfire and forest management, and chairs the IFA/AFG Fire Management Committee.

Gary was previously a Chief Fire Officer (9 years for Public land in Victoria) and the CEO of the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre (7 years). Dr Lachie McCaw has worked in forestry since 1980 and is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with skills in native forest management. He has extensive experience in bushfire research and management with a focus on forests, woodlands and shrublands of Western Australia.
