WEBINAR | Growing good quality pine products on your farm

Date: Wednesday 6 December
Time: 1:00pm – 2:00pm (AEDT)
RFP CPD points: 1.0

The Taylor family have been growing Radiata Pine on their grazing properties since the late 1980s. They have learned much of the science from the local and overseas foresters. Along the way they have had to adapt many of the standard practices to suit not only the difficult growing conditions but also integrating livestock production. They have been producing processed round and sawn pine products now for over 25 years as a sideline farm enterprise. Challenges with market access, price transparency, harvesting volumes and labour have all been cause for innovation.

Michael Taylor

Michael is a 6th generation farmer in the New England Tablelands of NSW. In 2022 he won the ABC’s Australian Farmer of the year award for his future focused management of their diverse farm business whilst building on the agroforestry work of his family since the 1980’s.

His vision is to see multi-purpose forests on farms with diverse co-benefits and huge carbon sequestering potential and is currently using a Nuffield Scholarship to investigate barriers to adoption of agroforestry. Michael is husband to Milly and father of three children.
