ABOUT THE SESSION
Australia’s Regional Forest Agreements (RFAs) have underpinned the management of native forests for over two decades—balancing environmental, economic, and social objectives. As place-based, long-term policy instruments, RFAs have provided a stable framework for sustainable forest management and intergovernmental cooperation.
In this exclusive member-only digital briefing, Forestry Australia will unpack the history and achievements of the RFAs—what they are, what they were designed to deliver, and how they have supported forest management outcomes since the 1990s.
With a wave of change now sweeping across Australia’s forest policy landscape, this session will explore the implications of shifting government policy on the future of the RFA framework. What do emerging policy shifts mean for sustainable forest management and harvesting?
We’ll also discuss Forestry Australia’s evolving position in this context, offering members an opportunity to engage in a pragmatic discussion about the future of RFAs and contribute to shaping a constructive, forward-looking policy narrative.
