NSW Event: Opportunities & Challenges for Native Forestry in NSW

Forestry Australia’s NSW Branch would like to invite you to an upcoming presentations and dinner to explore the opportunities and challenges for the management of native forests in NSW.

Following the Victorian and Western Australian Government decisions to close public native forests, and growing calls in NSW there is a real threat to the management of native forests generally in Australia.

Speakers:

  • Bill Paul – Director, Forest Management, VicForests: Bill will provide an overview of the Victorian hardwood situation as experienced by VicForests, giving background, key players, conflict over science, lawfare and what it means for Victorian forestry.
  • Neil Stollznow – StollzNow Research: Neil will present the results of a major social licence research project about forestry in NSW organised by the North East NSW Forestry Hub.
  • Jeff Boyd – Manager, Local Land Services NSW: Jeff will discuss the private native forestry sector in NSW, with the scope of the sector and challenges and opportunities for the future.

This event follows the successful meeting held in Coffs Harbour in March 2023.

Dinner: Following the presentations and discussion, members and guests are invited to proceed to the restaurant/bistro at the Club for a meal. This is optional and at own expense to be paid for on the night. Please indicate if you are staying for dinner when you register.

Transport: North Ryde RSL has plenty of free parking and is not too far from the railway station at North Ryde.

Registration: Forestry Australia Member: $10 Non-member: $25.
Please note: Participants must register and pay to attend the evening. Please indicate when registering if you intend staying for a meal.
