About the Presentation

Title: Transition of PNG forests and forest industry towards the national objective of down-stream processing; realities and potentials.
Presenter: Braden Jenkin, Sylva Systems

Braden Jenkin, Chair of Forestry Australia’s Victorian Branch Committee, will share insights into possible futures for forests, forest owners and the forestry industry in Papua New Guinea.

Braden’s work in Papua New Guinea began in 2007, following a request from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) to include a commercial forester in its projects. He has continued working in the country ever since.

His work has brought together forestry science, commercial realities, community benefits and political considerations, supported by factual accounts and evidence. His current projects include implementing the PNG Timber Legality Standard and developing a whole-of-country financial model.
