

Shaun Suitor
Biography:
Following the release of a new study, Options for Forest Sector Participation in International Carbon Markets: Unlocking the Carbon Market Potential of Australia’s Forest Sector, co-author Shaun Suitor will be joining the Summit this April. Dr Suitor has a PhD in Forest Science and Masters in Economics and is Strategy Manager at Sustainable Timber Tasmania. Dr Suitor has a diverse background in forest policy, regulation, compliance, management planning, carbon and natural capital accounting research. Over the last 20 years, he has worked across Australia and Europe, focusing on technical partnerships to disseminate research, monitoring, and evaluation findings in forest management to field operations. Dr Suitor’s current role involves managing a technical team overseeing the natural capital, carbon and research development and extension functions of Sustainable Timber Tasmania. He is also involved in academic research, serving as an Adjunct Senior Researcher in Biological Sciences at the University of Tasmania. Shaun has contributed to several research papers and projects, specialising in the forest carbon and natural capital accounting field.
