About

As the national population grows, Australia’s demand for timber and wood products will continue to expand. However, domestic supply is severely constrained for current demand, let alone to meet the additional demand from the expected population increase.

Recent research by IndustryEdge for FWPA shows that before 2050, Australia will rely on imports for at least 40% of its sawnwood supply. The situation is already more dramatic for engineered wood products and wood panels.

This is the opportunity to discuss the situation, the trends and what can be done about it.
